How YMCA Malta is governed

Clear roles. Shared responsibility.

Governance is vested in a voluntary Board of Directors elected through YMCA Malta’s Annual General Meeting.

The Board sets policy and strategic direction. The Chief Executive Officer is accountable to the Board and holds executive responsibility for leading the organisation in accordance with its statute and approved policies.

Annual General MeetingElects Board members and carries out the responsibilities assigned to it by the organisation’s statute.

Board of DirectorsA voluntary body of no more than ten members, responsible for governance, policy and strategic oversight.

Chief Executive Officer and managementLead day-to-day operations, implement approved policy and remain accountable to the Board.

Protect YMCA Malta’s purpose and approve the organisation’s strategic direction.

Policy and standards

Approve organisational policies and oversee the framework within which services operate.

Financial stewardship

Oversee responsible use of funds, financial controls and organisational sustainability.

Risk and compliance

Monitor significant risks and the organisation’s regulatory and statutory responsibilities.

Executive accountability

Appoint, support and hold the Chief Executive Officer accountable for executive leadership.

Public trust

Promote ethical conduct, transparency and decisions aligned with the public benefit.

Regulation and affiliation

Accountable locally. Connected internationally.

YMCA Malta combines the energy of a voluntary movement with professional, regulated service delivery.

Registration, licensing, quality standards and international networks reinforce learning and accountability, but do not replace YMCA Malta’s own governance responsibilities.
