My Voice 2 Europe
How can we fortify Democracy against tyranny?
Every five years, all Europeans of voting age elect Representatives (MEPs) to the European Parliament. The My Voice 2 Europe Project was designed to complement the 2024 EU Election, empowering young people in Malta to bring to the fore the issues they deem important for the future of us all.
The Project began with a Civil Youth Forum, attended by Maltese social justice organisations including The Malta Trust Foundation, Maltese National Youth Council and MGRM. They supported youths in their research, sharing experience and insight gained by working with the public. Recommendations were then compiled and presented to Maltese MEPs and MEP Candidates for the upcoming EU elections at a culminative project conference, held on May 11 2024 at Valletta Design Cluster.
The core group of young people involved in this project (see below) also produced 13 podcasts based on their findings. They invited experts in their respective fields—as diverse as youth workers, marine biologists, speech therapists, translators, lawyers, activists and unionists—to partake in discussion and debate, lending their voice to the question of how we may all create a more sustainable, equal and democratic Malta, Union and world.
