The YMCA movement was originally founded by George Williams in London in 1844 to nurture the mind, body and spirit of workers of the Industrial Revolution.
YMCA Malta was founded in 1976 in Valletta and has been known in the past as YMCA Valletta and/or YMCA Homeless.
Our Drop-in Centre is located at 4 Triq L-Iskola, Il-Ħamrun, Malta services 1200–1500 vulnerable individuals per month.
This project enlisted Malta’s youth in researching areas of society that are in need of regeneration. It was supported by Erasmus+, YMCA Europe, Aġenzija Żgħażagħ and Creative Europe Desk Malta.

Our specialisation is the support, assistance and reintegration of the homeless in Malta.
We support the positive development of young people as a preventive measure, intervening with a spectrum of social services to the underprivileged and socially disadvantaged.
We promote a programme of activities designed to foster the spiritual, intellectual, social and physical well-being of youth and the elderly.
We help all people irrespective of their mental and physical abilities and without any discrimination to gender, ethnicity, age, nationality, religion, sexual orientation or political opinion.
We seek to develop and strengthen links and recognition from state and church authorities as well as other private and public entities in Malta.
We perform principally as a Social Work Services Agency, a Youth Work Agency, a Housing Association and in any other role as may be decided at our Annual General Meeting.
We host an annual Christmas Play for the community: ‘Concert of Hope’.
The Charity & Vintage Shop located in Żabbar promotes a circular economy and sustainability, and helps fundraise for our community services.
Our annual Yoga in the City event fosters health in mind, body and spirit.
The Y’Visible team hits the streets to provide the homeless with necessities.
Every Summer we host a splendid variety of free activities and workshops for the youth of Malta. They offer opportunities to grow personally and professionally, as well as foster a sense of belonging.
