Volunteering
When you volunteer, everybody wins!
Volunteering your time and energy helps those in need in your community and makes a lasting impact on everyone involved. It provides novel opportunities to develop unexplored skills, meet like-minded people, and can offer your life an additional sense of purpose and fulfilment. When you volunteer, everybody wins!
YMCA Malta offers a vast array of volunteering opportunities. Whether you’re interested in working with young people, the elderly, those experiencing addiction, homelessness or financial hardship, or whether you’d like to work in service to the environment – there is a volunteering opportunity for everyone at YMCA Malta.
With our youth-oriented projects and non-formal educational opportunities, you can help young people develop interpersonal and professional skills, providing them with a safe space to find and develop their own unique voice.
We organise an annual programme of summer activities called Y Explore whereby young people are given the opportunity to go adventuring for a few days and learn skills like horse riding, rock climbing, kendo and parkour.
We run a Charity & Vintage Shop in Zabbar where one can find a variety of economical and beautiful household and personal items. We value the volunteers who help us run the shop and who offer us insight into how best to improve this entrepreneurial endeavour.
The Y’Visible project is seeking volunteers over the age of 18 to go out directly into the community and provide essential care for homeless and roofless individuals. Training is provided with a preference for those willing to commit for the longer-term.
Volunteers also make up a crucial part of the staff at our shelters. Alongside an international roster of professional social workers and social care interns, volunteers work in service to those seeking refuge in our residential care facilities.
Our Sustainability & Research Department offers volunteers the chance to help us carry out vital research on topics that support the YMCA in achieving its mission. Volunteers also aid us in planning and accomplishing our periodic fundraising initiatives.
The Creativity Department actively seeks volunteers to help us develop awareness campaigns on topics related to homelessness, mental health and other social issues. If you’re into infographics, digital design and filmmaking, there may be an opportunity awaiting you.
We are always looking for both short-term and longer-term volunteers. Whether you are from Malta or abroad, you are most welcome.
