Located directly north of the historic Fort Pembroke, the YMCA-YWCA Pembroke Park is a multipurpose urban space. It is a tricky terrain; the 4,500 m² sloping field upon which the park was built once formed part of Malta’s formidable island defences. Triq Luigi Billion, Triq Burma and Triq il-Fortizza surround the area on all sides. Yet the space is not traversable to the public…

In collaboration with the local council, since 2007 YWCA & YMCA of Malta have been regenerating this once desolate piece of earth. Guests are invited to plant gorgeous native flora at periodic commemoration ceremonies, with the option of dedication to a special individual or organisation of their choice. In this way we help re-green Malta, whilst honouring those who serve our community.
